Supported Languages
Configured languages
The following 13 languages are available in the Settings → Transcription Language dropdown:

Changing the language
- Open the Settings tab.
- Select your language from the Transcription Language dropdown.
- Click Save Settings.
The selected language is used as a hint for all subsequent dictation and meeting transcriptions.
Automatic language detection
If you set the language to Auto (or leave it unset), Whisper will attempt to detect the language from the audio. Detection works best on recordings of 10 seconds or more. For short clips or mixed-language audio, providing an explicit language code gives more reliable results.
Other languages
OpenAI Whisper supports over 99 languages internally. The 13 languages listed above are the ones currently exposed in the app's UI. If you need a language not in this list, it can be added by updating the language options in the settings configuration — contact the developer or open an issue on the project repository.
Language codes
Language codes follow the ISO 639-1 standard (two-letter codes). When using the API directly or configuring via settings files, use these codes.
